Submission must be original work, not yet published. Projects previously presented at medical schools, “Research Days” or other similar events are acceptable. Concurrent submissions to other conferences such as the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) and the Society for the Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) are considered legitimate and are encouraged.
To be considered you must:
-
- Be enrolled in a Mississippi family medicine residency program, or one of the two medical schools in Mississippi.
- Be a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)/ Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP). Non-member submissions will not be considered. Join at aafp.org/join. Once you join the AAFP, you automatically become a member of the MAFP.
- Registered as a Spring Fling attendee at the time of judging. Registration will open in late February. More information on Spring Fling.
**Overnight accommodations can be made for any out of town attendees.
Poster Review
All submissions will be reviewed by physician members of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians Research Committee. Posters will be judged for awards PRIOR to the Spring meeting. The review will focus on:
-
- Significance of findings for practicing family physicians
- Quality of presentation findings
- Quality of methods used to generate findings
- Presentation of new or innovative ideas
In instances in which the above criteria are judged not to apply, reviewers will seek to evaluate the extent to which the submitted presentation will be of interest to family medicine.
The top three poster presentations from the resident/fellow and student categories will be invited to present their work to the conference attendees Sunday, April 13,2025.
